If you’re like most of my students, you probably have a strong sense of something more you’re meant to be doing with your life.
Maybe you have clues to what that is, but you don’t know how to get there.
Maybe you have no idea, but you know there’s SOMETHING else than what your current position allows for.
And by now, you’ve likely guessed that going after this big massive *SOMETHING* means walking your own road.
So how do you actually take that first (or next) step on what can feel like an impossible journey?
Here are my 3 basic rules for getting a move on down the most exhilarating and worthwhile adventure you’ll ever take in life.
#1 Follow your Star Strength.
Your Star Strength is like your very own personal North Star. Not only is it the brightest thing about you, but it will lead you in a direction that creates lasting fulfillment and self-realization along the way (before you reach 100).
Your Star Strength has often been the thing that makes people most uncomfortable about you!
It is that beautiful, brilliant and powerful. It upsets the status quo just by existing.
And by tapping into it on a daily basis (sensations of what it feels like in your body), it will lead you directly to take your next step on your unique meaningful path.
#2 Forget what people want from you (respectfully).
If you’re like me, there are probably some things you excel at. You might even be a master of these skills and talents!
Go ahead and conjure this list of your superior skills to mind.
Now, forget it! I don’t mean forever, but don’t trick yourself into thinking this is worthy your painfully brief life’s effort and time.
Back in 2008, my friends were practically begging me to keep practicing massage therapy or to go to grad school instead of becoming a coach. If I would have listened to what literally everyone around me was saying, I wouldn’t be here rocking this mind-blowingly beautiful work I love and guiding you to find yours!
#3 Fall in love with you.
Going your own way means you could feel alone a lot. Not all the time. But if you want to successfully create work and a life you love, it requires the willpower to walk on your own when necessary.
Do you have fun when you’re alone? Do you like who you are?
If not, start working on your personal growth in these areas today.
It makes investing time in doing what fulfills you a whole lot easier (and a heck of a lot more fun). You will experience less and less pull to waste time with people who are just following the crowd.
The best part is, when you love being on your own, you start to attract other rogue badasses who are rocking their own road, too! Definitely well-worth any awkward transition time.
